Market Bosworth in Bloom

Bosworth in Bloom started in 1985. That year marked the quincentenary of the Battle of Bosworth Field which took place nearby. It was decided as one part of the celebrations to put floral displays around the town, and to enter the Britain in Bloom Competition. In 1985 we were regional winners, England winners and also competed in the National Finals. Because of this success it was decided to continue to enter the competition thus the Bosworth in Bloom Committee was formed.

2007 saw a change in leadership for Bosworth in Bloom. The Chairman and Treasurer stepped down after 22 years' outstanding service, recognised by the East Midlands in Bloom Committee who presented them with a special award. However, they continued to work as hard as ever before and enabled a smooth transition to the new committee. All were delighted to win the Regional competition with a Gold Medal Certificate in 2007. Plans are now afoot to enter both the Regional and the National competitions in 2008 and planting is to reflect the story of Market Bosworth, its past and future.
