The annual Market Bosworth Festival celebrations run this year between Saturday 21 June to Saturday 28 June and include open air public entertainment in the Market Place; music, stalls and fun for all the family in the Country Park; a classical concert by Orchestra of the Swan in the parish church; a performance of Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Bosworth Battlefield; and an open air Queen tribute concert by Mercury with local support band, also at Bosworth Battlefield. Planting day will be on May 31, when the Bosworth in Bloom team will plant all the troughs around Market Bosworth. During the week the beds and hanging baskets will also be planted, in readiness for the East Midlands 'Champion of Champions' competition being judged the week commencing July 9, and the National competition being judged between 4 - 15 August. February has seen the official opening of a new visitor centre - the Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre. Partly funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund the new exhibition provides a wonderful day out: find out about Medieval England, those who fought in the battle and the equipment used by medieval surgeons; enjoy the hands-on interactive displays; try on armour; explore the Battlefield Trail. The Pay and Display charges are low - 20p for 1 hour, 50p for 2 hours, £1 for 4 hours and £2 all day. The car park is free between 5.30pm and 8am. Income from car parking fees over the last nine months has amounted to £6,289. This income is shared between the Parish Council and the Borough Council but VAT and expenses have to be deducted from this amount.

Land adjacent to the public car park is being leased by the Parish Council to provide spaces for those who obtain a pre-paid permit.

Cathy Monkman was appointed to the position of Clerk to Market Bosworth Parish Council with effect from 8th January. Please feel free to call into the Parish Council office on a Thursday morning to meet her.

The Parish Office will be open on Thursday mornings 10am to 1pm. Access to the office is through Flavell's main entrance in the Market Place. Parishioners should ask to be directed to the Clerk's office.
